Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Grug Digital’s games and rewards apps use, where it’s kept and who sees it.
Effective November 6, 2026
- No account and no sign-up. Your points, Pearls, avatar and settings are saved in the browser on your phone, not on our servers.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- We don’t sell your information, show ads or use advertising trackers.
Who we are
Grug Digital (“we”, “us”) makes web games and rewards apps with local businesses in Katy, Texas, including the Grug site and partner apps such as Teahouse Express Rewards. This policy covers all of them.
Information saved on your device
Our apps save the following in your browser’s local storage on your phone or computer:
- Your avatar, display name and settings
- Points, check-in history, game scores and boosts
- Pearls you’ve bought, a short list of your purchases (pack, price and Stripe’s checkout reference) and a random purchase code
- Anything you choose to save in an app, such as notes
This information stays on your device and isn’t sent to us. You can delete it any time with the “Clear my points and settings” button in the app, or by clearing your browser’s data for our site. Once deleted it can’t be recovered, including Pearls you bought.
Payments
When you buy something, you pay on Stripe’s secure checkout page. Stripe collects your email address and payment details and processes them under Stripe’s privacy policy. Stripe shares with us your email address, what you bought, the amount, the payment status and the purchase code from your app, so we can confirm orders, give refunds and answer questions. We keep these payment records as long as needed for accounting, tax and legal reasons.
Grug Club memberships are sold by Gumroad, which collects your email address and payment details under Gumroad’s privacy policy. When you paste your license key on the Pearls page, your browser sends it to Gumroad to check that your membership is active. Your license key and membership status are then saved on your device.
Information we receive in other ways
- When you contact us. If you text us or message us on Discord, we see your phone number or Discord username and your messages, and use them only to help you.
- Game activity notices. Some apps post a short note to our private Discord server when someone opens a game, such as “A player has logged on to Teahouse Express.” It contains no name, contact details or other personal information. It’s sent from your browser to Discord, which receives your IP address the way any website does.
- Live menu boards. Some partner apps connect to the restaurant’s in-store menu board to show today’s menu or check in. That connection passes through a public connection service (PeerJS) and carries only the menu and check-in codes.
Services that load our pages
Our pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. Fonts load from Google Fonts, and some code libraries load from public code hosts such as jsDelivr and unpkg. Like any website, these services receive your device’s IP address and basic browser information when your browser loads files from them, and they handle it under their own privacy policies. We don’t use analytics or advertising trackers.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent your personal information.
- We don’t share it for advertising.
- We don’t ask for your location. Check-ins work by tapping or scanning a tag in the store.
Children
Our games are for a general audience and aren’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Purchases require a parent or other adult cardholder. If you think a child made a purchase or shared information with us, contact us and we’ll help, including with a refund.
Your choices
You can play without buying anything. You can delete what’s saved on your device at any time, as described above. To ask about, correct or delete payment records or messages we hold about you, contact us using the details below.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date.
